The Jefferson Memorial
This building was not easy to paint so I had a bit more fun with the rest.

I LOVE IT DOMINIQUE!!! Who said memorials have to be reverent and somber. This would even make a great note card. The US Government should buy this from you. It'll go with the change we'll hopefully see with the new presidency.

Dominique I am completely unexposed to many historila monuments so I appreciate that you posted the text. I enjoyed your happy take on the monument. I guess you and I basically responded similarly that the scene, not the view, just lacked some magic huh? :) The view of course and what it stands for is plenty magical!
Hi Dominique, in this very creative interpretation, I see the winds of change, with the bright colours and bold shapes signifying optimism and strength. I hope that doesn't sound too political, but this is the Jefferson Memorial after all. Nice job. By the way I sent you an email.

Vern, I also agree with you , you expressed my direction, I think we are being pushed into being more bold in Values, Character and Morals at least that is what I feel. Regardless of politics or not.

Hi Dominique! Its really interesting to see how artists react to a reference like this. Is it "calm/serene" or is it "cold/devoid of life"??? I look at the DSFDF gallery for this challenge and see a kind of psychological experiment/statement. (I think that I fall into the same line with you)- you create energy and bring life to the scene by activating the sky and parts of the landscape with your strokes. Very nice!

I very much like how in yours you changed the time of day a bit...also what I was reaching for but your really pulled it off. The swirls are reminiscent of Van Gogh, perhaps? Your interpretation of this photo makes it seem a much friendlier place.
