" MY HARVEST "

                 8   x  10    Watercolor   (frisket removed)

This is the challenge for Different Strokes From Different Folks a site hosted by Karin Jurick,
As you can see VEGETABLES were the subject.  In these challenges I had the desire to try to stretch myself with medium or technique. The background was done with a lot of Frisket, like a cake. Some frisket some paint, more frisket and color and so on. the idea was to cover some area at the time .Then it is all removed. If any one has ever done batik this is the same thing.
When finished I touched it up a little.

                     8   x   10    watercolor    ( frisket still on )

Wow! This turned out wonderful. I love the frisket, but I especially like the texture on your vegetables. The tomatoes almost look like apples, and the skin on the onions looks so papery.

dominique eichi said...

The Bull,
Thanks, it was fun to paint except taking off the frisket.

Deb,

Dominique,
Not being a watercolorist. I had trouble seeing where you applied frisket. thne notices how the back ground was nuch lighter. You must have covered most of the table with frisket to lay in the darks in the wood grin. Good Job.

Dominique, je trouve cette aquarelle très réussie, mais je n'ai pas très bien compris le sens de "frisquet".
Merci pour ton commentaire sur mon blog.

dominique eichi said...

Phillip,
Yes the background was mainly done with frisket but basically it is a glue for paint so you put it where you do not want to paint to go on. When done you take it off. It is mainly used for watercolor but it might work in other medium.
Some area on the tomatoes and onions had some too. Which made those blotches.

Sylviane,
C'est une sorte de cole pour aquarelle. Peut etre tu peut lire ce que j'ais dis a Phillip.
Merci pour venir sur mon blog.

Wish I knew what frisket is...this is wonderful Dominique!

dominique eichi said...

DANA,
Frisket is a sort of glue that can be used to cover an area that you do not want the paint to touch and when your done you just rub it off sort of like Rubber Cement.( I never tried RC maybe it would work).Wherever you paint the frisket on the paint will not go through to the paper. I hope this helps. Thanks for coming by.
