My first Oil painting portrait !

                                                11 x 14  OIL

Wow.............. I have to thank Vern Schwarz  for this. He told me I should try Oil painting and offered to help me. Well I did not know how to start so I took this class with a talented young man called Kris Finch . I like him because he goes straight into the project "a la prima" I like shortcuts or very direct routes so this worked real well for me.
I have to say that I might have to add oil painting to my bag of pleasures.
This was done in 2 hours. I used only 4 colors (black, white, red, yellow)
Should I pursue oil painting ?

I would say a resounding yes, Dominique. I love the careworn expression on her face. Lovely work, and even more notable for it being a first for you! Well done!

You must go on if in your spirit you think you're well. I like your first work with oil painting. It's very important to have a good teacher with which you're a good feeling.
Best regards.

Way to go Dominique, I knew you'd get the oil bug if you tried them. You are off to a flying start, and I predict you'll have more fun than you've ever had with your clothes on. Great start.

Wha the...first oil? Two hours! Amazing! I'm surprised you think you have to ask! I would have never guessed this was your first oil portrait Dominique. Your gift with drawing most certainly translates beautifully in oil!!!

Hey Dominique,
Wow! That's a great piece. I can't even believe it's your first time using oils. I've never used them. Maybe you'll inspire me.

WOW!!!!!!!!!! Dominique, I am dumbfounded. This is so BEAUTIFUL!!! I KNEW with your drawing talent that you were going to be a wonderful painter and I should have known how naturally people would come to you, but I'm sorry, I didn't imagine your first oil portrait would look like this. It is AMAZING!!! I'm so happy to see you doing work like this!!

Sure, you have to gon on with oil, Dominique! It's such a pleasure, with the colours! I was the same 3 weeks ago, and now I can't do without it.I wasted several years with acrylic.
Very nice portrait!

It's like chicken or fish, meat or lobster. You have to try it all because sometimes you just have to have dessert first because you might be to full after dinner. Yes! on the oil. There is nothing like it.

Wow...I never knew that you haven't worked with oils. Incredible work, Dominique...and painted with limited time and a limited palette!

Michelle,
Yea I "was" an oil virgin but not anymore. It was fun and I did like the time/colors constraints, I do better I think when squeezed.

It's so fun trying new media, isn't it? I always come back to my favorites - acrylics and colored pencils. But life would be so boring if I didn't try different stuff in between. You did a great job. And only 2 hrs.? I don't think I could complete anything worthwhile in so short a time! Bravo!!
