2nd Oil Portrait

                                                   11 x 14    OIL

Well this is the 2nd life portrait this time a male so I can have one of both so far. I felt it was more difficult this time to achieve what I wanted. There is so much to learn.
Now..... when I look at my friends in the blog world that paint in oil I am in awe of their talent.
It is making me appreciate their work so much more.
Until you try it yourself you never quite understand.

Another beautiful foray into oils, Dominique. I think this is wonderful. I find myself thinking about the timelessness of the male facial structure. This could be a statesman from the Revolutionary War era, were it not for his modern clothes and style. Not sure why my thoughts went there this a.m., but they did. Kind of a neat thing to think on, really.

I feel the same way about new media - I'm so appreciative of people who can do collage, abstract, pastels - all things I lack skill at. You did a nice job on this portrait. Men ARE more difficult to paint. Their skin is much more textured.

You did a great job, Dominique. And I totally agree with you! There's no way to understand how difficult it could be until you try. And it is not easy!
