The Red Seed

11.5 x 9   Acrylic on primed canvas paper

Magnolias always mesmerize me. It seem that this one just had to get out and get painted all by herself. The different stages they go through in beautiful too. This is the one where these beautiful big RED seeds are coming out from the center of the flower.

beautiful! I love the handling of the yellow petals, and I agree with Sheila, it's so dramatic on the black.

The magnolia looks great against the dark surroundings and those delicately done reflections are a nice touch!

Hah! Thank you for showing me what a magnolia looks like, Dominique! I honestly didn't know. I love that splash of yellow and red on black. Just truly an arresting piece!

Beautiful, Dominique. I love them, too. We have one in the front yard that is now covered with heavy snow. Your painting brings good thoughts of blooms to come.
