"Rancho Bernardo Winery"

                                            8 x 11 Pen , Ink  & Tombow pens

                           8 x 11     Pen , Ink, Tombow pens & Watercolor

The local San Diego Sketchcrawl group met this Sunday at the Rancho Bernardo Winery which is  a treasure trove of subject to draw and paint from. It was such a nice time with everyone. We were under an overhang that gave out music which was Josh Groban playing . It can't get any better than that.

You've got some beautiful sketches here. I'd love to know more about the tools, paper, etc. you use. Especially when sketching on location. Do you have a post where you share this info?

Also, thanks for your comments on my recent posts!

I love the second and the first one is wonderful with all those little touches ( horseshoe, heart wreath) I'd kind of want a little color and then I kind of don't want to take away from all that wonderful line work. How do you decide when to add color and when not to Dominique?

Hey Sheila, Thanks for your direct comment I was wondering about adding some color on the first one but felt it was more like a value sketch of dark and light more than anything . But I might try to play with that one in photoshop which I am not comfortable with that program yet. About color for the previous sketches I think about it like a graphic artist what would I need to do to it to make it pop without all the details of different colors and I always end up with just 1 or 2 things to add color too to make an impact. like the eyes of the cat or the door. I guess it depends on the subject too. Because the barn sketch the whole thing had such beautiful browns that i decided to do the whole thing and tried accentuating the corrugated thin roof mostly.
